The CBI probing the murder of Congress councilor of Jhalda Municipality in West Bengal, Tapan Kandu, has arrested an accused named Jabir Ansari from Bokaro in Jharkhand. The CBI on Sunday produced Jabir Ansari in Purulia Court, from where he has been sent to 10-day police custody.
Tapan Kandu was shot dead on March 13 near his house when he was out for an evening walk. Tapan was a popular leader of the region.
He had won for the fourth time from ward number-two of Jhalda Municipality in the civic polls held in February. Niranjan Vaishnav, a witness to the murder and friend of Kandu, was also found dead in his house a few days later.
Let us tell you that earlier the investigation of this case was done by the SIT of Bengal Police, but later the investigation of this heinous murder was handed over to the CBI.
