CM to lay foundation of World Trade Centre today


Efforts have begun to make Jharkhand a leading state in terms of exports. For this, on Friday, Prime Minister and Hemant Soren will lay the foundation stone of the World Trade Center in Dhurwa, Ranchi, with the aim of increasing exports and providing better facilities. In order to increase the productivity of export-related activities, the state government previously established the State Export Promotion Committee and the District Export Promotion Committee. JUIDCO will act as the technical and executive agency for the implementation of the project in the construction of the World Trade Center.

The state government will work to promote infrastructure by building a World Trade Center. The World Trade Center Ranchi will promote the export of agricultural commodities, textiles, tasar products and technical goods. Jharkhand is known to be the largest silk producer in the country, accounting for 76.4% of the country's total production. Estimating the goods exported from Jharkhand, the total exports of the state in 2020-2021 were $1,622.31 million. The state's exports amounted to US$2,201.55 million in 2021-22 (ending February 2022). The main exports of the state are iron, steel, auto parts, steel products. In the financial year 2021-22, Jharkhand's total iron and steel exports were $1.367 billion or 62.1% of total exports. Jharkhand produces 53% of the total of the 5 lake producing states.



About 32% of Jharkhand's exports go to South Asian countries like Bangladesh and Nepal. 25% of the state's exports are destined for Southeast Asian markets. Vietnam is in the lead. Exports are 13% to European countries like Italy and 11% to East Asian markets like China.
