Dumka: In protest of the killing of Ankita and a tribal girl in Dumka district of Jharkhand, Dumka is closed today. Several tribal organizations took to the road and burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister. Marandi demanded an NIA probe.
There is huge outrage among the tribals in Dumka over the incident of murder of a tribal girl after rape and hanging the body on a tree. On Sunday, people of many tribal organizations took to the road. During this, the Chief Minister's effigy was burnt and slogans were raised against the police administration. People took out a candle march in the city and called for a Dumka bandh on Monday.
Many organizations including Bajrang Dal have announced their support for the bandh called by tribal organizations. The candle march started from Sido Kanhu Chowk and reached the bus stop via Teen Bazar and then back to Sido Kanhu Chowk. Student leader Shyamdev Hembram said that the entire Dumka will remain closed on Monday. If our 7-point demands including death penalty to the accused Armaan Ansari through fast track court are not fulfilled in 15 days, then we will block the road and do economic blockade in the state.
Get NIA probed: Babulal
Former Chief Minister and BJP Legislature Party leader Babulal Marandi has demanded an NIA inquiry into the brutal incident in Dumka. Talking to reporters after meeting the victim's family members on Sunday, Marandi demanded the removal and arrest of Dumka SDPO Noor Mustafa.
Former CM met family members at the victim's hut
In the rape and murder case of a tribal teenager, former Chief Minister and BJP Legislature Party leader Babulal Marandi on Sunday reached the victim's village in Raneshwar area and met her family members. The relatives of the victim live in the hut. Balulal Marandi took information about the entire incident from the family members of the victim. Condoling the family of the victim, the former Chief Minister said that we will give you justice.
The ailing parents of the victim told Babulal that due to poverty, the girl used to work as a laborer at her aunt's house. Babulal Marandi also interacted with some relatives of the deceased. A relative told that she used to work with mason Armaan Ansari. Armaan continuously raped her. Armaan Ansari swears that he will marry her.
