Protest on putting up the religious flag by removing tricolor flag, Complain filed

The villagers snatched a loaded pistol from a youth and handed it over to the police. After that the young man fled. The Mandar police explained and pacified the people and called the relatives of the youths and got the religious flag installed in the square removed.


Some youths of the village put up a religious flag there by removing the tricolor that was hoisted in Visakhatanga village of Mander, sometime before the time. This created tension in the village. The incident happened around 5 pm on Monday. It is said that the youths tried to intimidate the villagers by showing fear of weapons when they opposed the installation of religious flag at the place of tricolor, due to which the villagers became furious.

It is said that on Monday, on the occasion of Independence Day, Sneha Ekka, the head of the Panchayat, along with dozens of villagers, hoisted the tricolor in the Golambar built in Bishakhatanga Chowk at around 9 am.

After this, five youths of the village reached there at 4.30 pm and removed the tricolor and put up a religious flag. When the atmosphere in the village became hot, Khalari DSP Animesh Naithani, Inspector Sanjeev Kumar along with other police station reached Bishakhatanga and pacified the people. In this case, the villagers lodged a written complaint with the Mandar police station.
